New home furniture {living room + master bedroom}

If you are new around here, my husband Trent and I have been in the process of renovating our new home. Well, I shouldn’t say new. This house was built nearly 100 years ago. We are renovating and bringing life back to our Tudor/Scottish style home with completely updated bathrooms, electricity, HVAC, flooring, yea, the list goes on.

We are excited (and relieved) to be in the final stages of our reno process. There is only one bathroom left to go and the paint is going up on the walls. It’s getting serious, people!

Now, I can focus on furnishing this home rather than spending my time on bathroom faucets.

Here is a sneak peek at what our living room and master bedroom should look like once furnished. I do need your help with a few decisions, though. Read more about my ideas below and help a girl out!

Let me first paint the picture for you of our living room. There is a grand, dark green marble fireplace, arched entry ways, and the walls are lined with vintage black steel windows that open up into a courtyard. There is access to our stairway that has wood walls and Trent’s office that is also entirely made of wood with built in bookshelves.

Because there is already so much wood, I wanted to make sure our living room furniture has very limited wood pieces. We went with a metal and antique glass coffee table (I picked this out before we even had a house!) and a drink stand that is heavy metal with a thick glass top.

Our living room is longer than it is wide so we had to play a bit with the furniture choices. I really wanted a chaise sofa because I love to lounge back and watch movies. This would have made our seating options really restricted because we would only be able to fit the sofa. Sooo, instead we went with a deep sofa that reminds me of the famous cloud couch from Restoration Hardware (and is wayyy cheaper). This sofa is still deep enough that you can cozy up and not feel like you are sitting up stiff. Next we purchased [another deep and cozy] lounge chair. I foresee this being Bart’s chair (our standard poodle). Eventually, we plan to purchase some sable leather stools that can double as a seating option and foot rests.

Out of the entire house, I have put my most time, energy, and $$$ into the master suite. It was really important to me to create a peaceful sanctuary. I am in LOVE with our bedframe. I did a lot of research on bedframes from all over and ultimately decided on this very elegant swooped back bed. We plan to put our bed against a window. This swooped back will allow us to still get plenty of light in from that side of the room.

I want to keep all of the colors light but don’t want a totally whited out bedroom. We are going with a dusty charcoal dresser and antique brown nightstands. I’m a little unsure on the night stand color choice, maybe getting it charcoal as well would be best? Let me know in the comments!

The other thing I need help on is…what accent chairs to go with. I had originally picked out the distressed velvet mauve swivel chairs but am also considering a swivel boucle material chair. What do you think??

Our master bedroom has an absolutely gorgeous marble fireplace with light pink, gray, and blue veins. I think the mauve color would really complement the fireplace. On the other hand, I like the idea of keeping all the colors neutral and going with the boucle. Tell me your choice in the comments!

Next up…

Did you like my sneak peek? :) I will soon be releasing the inspiration boards and looks for our dining room and bathrooms. The master bathroom is not one to be missed…

When the rooms are complete, there will be entire room reveals with links to shop my home look! (because I’m extra like that)
